Frequently asked questions
Quick Answers About Caffeine
Does dark roast have more caffeine?
Not necessarily. Roast level is only one factor; serving size, bean type, and brewing method also influence caffeine.
How much caffeine is in Half-Caff?
Our 50/50 Half-Caff blends equal parts regular coffee and Swiss Water® Process decaf, so they are designed to provide about half the caffeine of a comparable regular cup. Brewing method and serving size still matter.
Does decaf contain any caffeine?
Yes. Decaf is not completely caffeine-free, but it contains far less caffeine than regular coffee. Our featured decaf coffees use the Swiss Water® Process.
Does brewing method affect caffeine?
Yes. The amount of coffee used, serving size, brew time, and extraction all affect the caffeine in your cup.
Can decaf taste as flavorful as regular coffee?
Yes. Decaf can still be full-bodied and flavorful. Our Swiss Water® Process decafs are selected to preserve the coffee’s character while reducing caffeine.
When should I choose decaf?
There is no single right time. Many people choose Half-Caff later in the day and decaf in the evening; choose the routine that works for you.
